Ibiza and the Festival Medieval

Hola hola hola!!

Wooooooooo! What a week/weekend. I'm telling you, traveling is harder than people make it look.  Way harder. That story will be coming one day.. not soon. So don't hold your breath or anything.  You will most definitely die waiting for it.  Promise. But one day, just maybe, it will be a funny story to tell  you all.  Today, not so much.

Enjoy this picture of us cuddling for warmth on the airport floor.  We're adorable.

Moving right along.

Once we arrived and got settled in our hostel at Ibiza, we had the best time ever.  We didn't even do anything.  And that's what made it great.

Want to know the very first thing we did upon arrival? Yep, we napped.

We spent less than 10 euros each for home cooked meals, which were delicious, and just laid in the sun for 3 days. I actually got a little bit of color for once, but we all know when I woke up this morning, it was gone. The first night we made grilled cheese and tomato soup and the second we made spaghetti.  Both mornings we made ourselves some classy skillet toast.   (Sorry for wasting your time talking about stupid food that we made, but if you had to eat bland food day after day, you would appreciate a little tomato soup and spaghetti in your life too.)

Proceed to drool over these beach photos:

After yet another not yet funny situation at the airport, we arrived home last night. At 2:45 am. It was great.

While we went to the beach, and loved every minute of it, the Festival Medieval was occurring in our cute little town of Alcalá de Henares.  Today was the last day, so Jenika, her host mom Alecia, Ángeles, and I went to dinner and walked around for an hour or so.

She's great. (Also, note the slightly red tint to my skin.  Yes, that is what my body believes is a "tan".  Pretty neat, huh?)

This festival was a big deal.  Packed.  Wall to wall people who have no idea what personal space is.  To say the least, you walk around with your purse in both hands and your shoulders hunched to avoid collisions. Great time, folks.

Some wood work that a vendor was selling.  The whole festival consisted of vendors (dressed in medieval costumes) selling all kinds of things: food, jewelry, wood workings, candy, costumes, and more.

This was a little Indian food vendor.  It looked like such a great place, but our host mom's were freaked out that they cook and eat with their hands.  So we had to move right along.. :(

And then this happened..

This awesome vendor was making crepes with all kinds of things inside! It was so cute and so
delicious.

Jenika enjoyed a crepe with chocolate and bananas.  I chose one with chocolate and raspberry puree. So good, but so messy!  Almost impossible to eat the whole thing! (But you know we did.)

There were also wooden rides for the niños.  This one was a swing ride.  So adorable.  Also, seemingly unsafe?

And finally we have the birds.  As we were walking by, Jenika and I thought these birds were fake.  They look fake, right?  Yes, yes they do.  WRONG.  One turned and squawked at us.  It was crazy!

And there you have it.  My week/weekend in a nutshell.  A great time for all.. most of the time. :)

Also, a small shout out to Devon.  He's taking the GRE tomorrow.  Good luck!!!

And one for Marisa: I really hope our traveling plans work out.  I want you to see Europe with me!  Even though I will have already seen most of it.. Haha. Todas las cosas CONTIGO son muy bien! ;)

That's all for now.
Happy reading.  Stay excellent, ME.
